The Fine Print

The stuff worth knowing before you arrive.

❄️ Winter Looks Different!

Someone visited in March and said the place looked nothing like the summer pictures. They're right — winter transforms Tamihi Meadows! Below are two photos taken from the same spot: one in winter and one in spring. Both are unedited cell phone shots.

The road in March

Same location, different season — both beautiful in their own way!

🕐 Check-in & Check-out

Campground: Check-in after 1:00 PM | Check-out before 11:00 AM

Cabins: Check-in 3 PM – 9 PM | Check-out before 11:00 AM

Early check-in/out is possible at $10/hour — just let us know in advance!

Gate hours: 9 AM – 9 PM. Special circumstances? Ask ahead.

🐕 Pets

Quiet, well-behaved, leashed, and picked-up-after dogs are welcome! Must be included in your reservation. No barkers. Not allowed on cabin furniture ($25 charge if they are). Cabin 2 is best if your pup gets anxious about passersby.

🔥 Fires & Firewood

Fires OK at 18"×18" unless there's a provincial ban. Firewood is $9 for a big feed bag — available from the camp host 9 AM – 9 PM. You can bring your own, but no cutting or taking trees, branches, or deadfall. No construction materials permitted!

🚗 Vehicles & Guests

1 vehicle + 1 RV per single site. Extras: $10/vehicle, $25/RV ($45 with power). Licensed vehicles only — idle in, idle out. No revving or riding around the campground.  Idle In, Idle Out.  Visitors not permitted during busy weekends.  They can rent a cheaper site which would allow 3 people.  Quieter times? Ask ahead — day pass is $10.

🤫 Noise & Respect

We are very strict about peace and quiet. No unnecessary noise outside your site.  We have power sites so we don't permit generators.  No projectiles (bows, guns, spears, fireworks). People causing disturbances will be warned, then asked to leave without refund.

This is not a place for partiers or heavy drinkers. Quiet nature lovers only. ✌️

🐴 Horses & Wildlife

Our horses free-range — they're calm and gentle but can startle. Interaction at your own risk. No mauling, slapping, or rough handling. If you bring treats: apples must be cut (choking hazard!), no sugar, and use a container — not the ground or by hand.

This is true wilderness with lots of wildlife. Keep kids close. Make noise in quiet areas to alert wildlife — they prefer to avoid humans. Cougars do sit in trees, so be cautious.

🗑️ Garbage

Pack it in, pack it out. We do accept sorted recyclables (separate bags for bottles/cans, soft plastics, hard plastics, jars, metal). Paper products can be burned if no fire ban. No little bits of garbage or cigarette butts left around!

💧 Water & Power

There's a water tap on site (non-potable) — bring a jug. Most people only need 15 Amp service., but several sites offer 30 Amp.                                    Cabins 1-3 have no running water or electricity (think wooden tent with basic furniture and a wood stove!). The Chick Inn & Tacky Shack have solar lights (which depend on the amount of sun they receive).  The Waddle On Inn has basic electric.

🧒 Children

To preserve the peaceful environment our guests enjoy, unusually loud, unruly, or destructive children are not a good fit for our campground. Children must remain under the direct supervision of a responsible adult at all times.

💸 Cancellations

50% refund for cancellation up to 7 days in advance. On quieter times, we're usually happy to change your dates.  If we have to cancel, you will receive a 100%. refund.
